Awakening

Do you feel your soul awaken
Like a small bird within an egg?
I can hear the shell cracking.

Come to me, fragile and tender,
Crooked-winged —
I too have the sky in me.

Abrupt and blinding daylight appears —
No more the warm comfort of darkness,
The silent ignorance before birth.

Listen, your soul is not silent —
It will not be contained, it cries out
For the danger of a wide sky.
